Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Byron Cooke is no stranger to the spotlight. As an award-winning radio personality, his journey from humble beginnings in Australia to becoming an internationally recognized voice in radio is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose. From Melbourne to Saudi Arabia, Byron’s career is a testament to his love for communication and connecting with audiences across the globe.

A Journey of Passion and Persistence

Byron Cooke’s love for music and entertainment was inspired by his mother, Robin, a talented dancer and entertainer who ran a ballet school. Though Byron didn’t inherit her flair for dance, he found his calling in communication at a young age, creating pretend radio shows on cassette tapes. Despite graduating with a business degree, Byron pursued his passion by enrolling in a television and radio presentation course. His first big break came at a small radio station in a country town in Australia, setting the stage for a flourishing career.

Over the years, Byron worked with some of the world’s most influential radio stations, including Radio X in London, Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles, and the Triple M and Hit Networks in Australia. His five-year tenure on Melbourne’s top-rated breakfast show, “Fifi, Fev and Byron,” on 101.9 The Fox cemented his reputation as one of Australia’s leading radio hosts.

In 2021, Byron transitioned from live commercial radio to launch his independent podcast, “The Byron Cooke Show.” The podcast quickly gained acclaim for its focus on local communities, earning him a finalist spot for Podcast Host/Presenter of the Year at the Radio Today Podcast Awards.

A New Chapter in Saudi Arabia

In 2024, Byron made a bold move, relocating to Saudi Arabia to co-launch “The Byron Cooke Show with Sana K” on MBC LOUD FM. As part of the first English-speaking commercial radio network in the Kingdom’s history, Byron and his co-host, Sana Kothari, have redefined morning radio with their live breakfast show. Airing Sunday to Thursday mornings, the show has quickly gained a loyal following for its engaging content, listener-driven format, and the undeniable chemistry between its hosts.

“Our point of difference is that there aren’t any similar shows in Saudi Arabia,” says Byron. “Sana and I share a unique connection that resonates with our audience. Together, we are building a deeper bond with our listeners and delivering consistently every weekday morning.”

The weekly podcast version of the show has now expanded its reach even further. Byron credits the visionary leadership of Alex Agishev, Head of Content for MBC LOUD FM, and Ziad Hamza, Group Director of Audio Music and Radio at MBC Group, for the show’s success.

A Legacy of Connection and Community

For Byron, the real achievement lies in his ability to uplift and connect with his audience. Whether it’s a heartfelt message from a listener or his work with charities during his podcast years, Byron’s career has always been driven by a commitment to community.

“Hosting big live radio shows over the years has afforded me the privilege of lifting the spirits of the communities I serve,” Byron shares. “To this day, a random call or a DM saying, ‘You and Sana K make my morning,’ is the accomplishment I strive for.”

Lessons from a Storied Career

Byron’s success is rooted in his unwavering belief in himself and his craft. “Following my passion and never playing it safe has been key,” he says. “I don’t pretend to be brilliant at everything, but I’ve always backed myself as an engaging and entertaining communicator.”

One of his proudest moments came in Los Angeles, where he was named “International Radio Personality of the Year” at the Worldwide Radio Summit. Yet, for Byron, the simple words of his late mother, Robin — “Reach for the stars” — remain his greatest source of inspiration.

More Than a Radio Host

Beyond the airwaves, Byron has hosted major events such as the Australian F1 Grand Prix and the Australian Open. His television credits include presenting roles on “AFL Game Day” and “Seven Horse Racing” on Australia’s Seven Network.

The Byron Cooke Show with Sana K: Breaking New Ground

Byron’s current venture, “The Byron Cooke Show with Sana K,” is not just a radio program; it’s a groundbreaking effort to connect with Saudi Arabia’s English-speaking audience. From humorous segments to heartfelt moments with listeners, the show continues to grow in popularity, fueled by the hosts’ authenticity and relatability.

As Byron Cooke settles into his new role in Saudi Arabia, his journey is far from over. With a career defined by breaking boundaries and building connections, Byron is poised to leave an indelible mark on the Kingdom’s radio landscape and beyond.
