Saudi Arabia Signs $300 Million Agreement to Fight Polio
Riyadh, February 28, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a $300 million partnership agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) to support global efforts in eradicating polio. The agreement was finalized during the Fourth Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.
Agreement Details
The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, KSrelief’s Supervisor General and Advisor to the Royal Court, and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of WHO.
This initiative aims to:
✅ Strengthen global campaigns to eliminate polio
✅ Support WHO in addressing polio in high-risk countries
✅ Implement preventive strategies and research to combat polio in Pakistan and Afghanistan
✅ Assist national programs in countries close to eradicating polio
✅ Improve global healthcare systems by supporting preventive health initiatives
