King Salman Science Oasis Fosters Global Chemistry Talent at International Olympiad
The King Salman Science Oasis (KSSO) recently served as a vibrant hub for the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad, welcoming 333 talented students from a remarkable 90 countries. This prestigious event, organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity alongside the Ministry of Education and King Saud University, took place in Riyadh from July 22nd to 30th.
Enriching Experiences for Future Chemists
The KSSO provided a stimulating learning environment for the young participants. They embarked on a journey to explore the rich history of chemistry within Saudi Arabia, gaining a deeper understanding of its critical role in the nation’s industrial development. Furthermore, students delved into the significant contributions of the petrochemical industry to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within the Kingdom.
A dedicated exhibition showcased the Kingdom’s research priorities, advancements, and innovations. Focusing on energy and industry-related technologies, the exhibition provided valuable insights into the nation’s scientific progress. Students also had the enriching opportunity to interact with 13 researchers from the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. These experts shared their knowledge across various fields, including refining, petrochemicals, hydrogen, nuclear sciences, advanced materials, electronics, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, future energy, and mining.
A Memorable Conclusion
To cap off their immersive experience at the KSSO, the students participated in a unique activity – the creation of Taif perfume. This hands-on experience offered a captivating cultural touchpoint, further enriching their time at the Olympiad.
