ABU DHABI: Khalifa University of Science and Technology has been ranked 6th in the world for Petroleum Engineering in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026. Last year, the university was ranked 7th, so this shows an improvement.

The university also moved up in several other engineering subjects. Its overall Engineering and Technology ranking reached 131st in the world. Electrical and Electronic Engineering rose to 92nd, while Chemical Engineering made a strong jump to 94th after being placed in the 151–200 range last year.

In total, Khalifa University had 15 subjects ranked in different categories this year. Three subjects were placed in the world’s top 100, while three more were listed in the top 150.

Other good results included Mathematics at 130th, Mechanical Engineering at 133rd, and Computer Science and Information Systems at 137th.

The university also reached an important new step this year. For the first time, it received a published ranking in the broad subject of Natural Sciences, where it was placed 220th in the world.

Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, said the results show the university’s strong focus on research and innovation, especially in areas important to the UAE’s future, including energy, science, and engineering.

He said the university’s progress reflects the quality of its teaching, research, and facilities, as well as the efforts of its professors and researchers.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 studied 6,277 universities around the world. Out of these, 1,912 institutions were ranked across 55 subjects and five broad subject areas.
