ABU DHABI: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, emphasized the UAE’s strong commitment to preserving its national heritage. He highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to launch initiatives aimed at protecting and promoting the UAE’s cultural legacy.

During a visit to Saadiyat Cultural District, Sheikh Khaled reviewed the progress of key cultural projects, including the final stages of major museums set to be completed by the end of 2025. These include the Zayed National Museum, the Natural History Museum – Abu Dhabi, and the digital arts museum, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi.

Preserving National Heritage

Sheikh Khaled highlighted the UAE’s dedication to documenting its rich history while fostering cultural dialogue between nations. The Saadiyat Cultural District is central to this vision, serving as a bridge between global cultures and showcasing the country’s cultural wealth. He also underlined Abu Dhabi’s leadership role in establishing the emirate as a global hub for culture and creativity.

By September 2024, Saadiyat Cultural District had reached 83% completion, marking a major milestone toward achieving its goal of becoming one of the world’s top cultural destinations.

Touring Cultural Landmarks

During the visit, Sheikh Khaled toured the Zayed National Museum, which celebrates the UAE’s rich history and culture. The museum’s iconic design, inspired by falcon feathers, is complete, with interior designs nearing finalization. He explored the museum’s galleries, which will tell the story of the UAE’s journey from its past to its present.

Sheikh Khaled also met with UAE national talents working on the district’s projects and was briefed on advanced engineering techniques being used, particularly in the Natural History Museum. This museum will take visitors on a journey through 13.8 billion years of history, showcasing significant moments in the universe’s and humanity’s evolution.

Innovative Digital Arts

Sheikh Khaled reviewed progress at teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, a 17,000-square-meter immersive digital arts space where art meets technology. This unique museum will feature evolving installations inspired by environmental phenomena, sparking creativity and imagination among visitors.

A Global Cultural Hub

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, expressed pride in the progress made within the Saadiyat Cultural District. “This district is home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of cultural institutions. Through their architecture, collections, and innovative programs, these museums promote artistic expression and cultural dialogue,” he said.

The district, developed in collaboration with Miral, a leader in creating immersive experiences in Abu Dhabi, aims to leave a lasting mark on the global cultural scene by blending art, technology, and creativity.

A Legacy of Cultural Excellence

For over 15 years, the Saadiyat Cultural District has been a symbol of the UAE’s commitment to preserving its national identity and promoting cultural heritage. This vision, initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, continues to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading cultural hub, building on the legacy of landmarks like the Al Ain Museum and the Cultural Foundation.
