GCC Strengthens Ties with Central Asia as Uzbekistan Ambassador Arrives
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is solidifying its relationship with Central Asia with the arrival of Uzbekistan’s new ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Nodirjon Turgunov. Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi formally received Ambassador Turgunov in Riyadh on Tuesday.
Expanding Cooperation
The meeting focused on exploring avenues to strengthen ties between the GCC and Uzbekistan, specifically. Discussions also covered broader relations between the GCC and the entire Central Asian region. Both parties expressed a strong interest in fostering deeper cooperation across various areas.
The Secretary-General and the Ambassador also exchanged views on current regional and international developments. Issues of mutual concern, including political matters, were part of this productive dialogue.

Secretary-General Al-Budaiwi extended his best wishes to Ambassador Turgunov for a successful tenure. This diplomatic exchange signifies the GCC’s commitment to expanding its partnerships in Central Asia and fostering a more connected and collaborative international community.
