Dubai: The first week of the 28th Universal Postal Congress in Dubai has ended, bringing together delegations from 192 countries under the theme “Leading the Change, Creating the Future.”

The Congress focused on important global issues and reached agreement on priorities that will shape the “Dubai Strategy” – a plan for the Universal Postal Union (UPU) covering 2026 to 2029.

High-level sessions, including the UPU Global Leaders Summit, set out a bold vision for the future of postal and logistics services. Discussions centered on the use of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and new eCommerce solutions to modernize the sector.

Other topics included improving governance and regulations, building stronger global networks, and supporting sustainability. Leaders also discussed ways to make supply chains faster and more efficient, promote financial inclusion, and strengthen postal and financial services.

The UAE played a key role, leading talks on how to build better networks for data sharing, boosting eCommerce, and supporting the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.

As the Congress moves into its second week, delegates will vote on the Dubai Strategy, elect new council members, and finalize plans for implementation. Important agreements and new initiatives are also expected, aimed at boosting international cooperation in the postal and logistics sector.
