FIA President Meets Hungarian PM and Czech President at Grand Prix

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem met Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar during the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring.

The meeting focused on stronger cooperation between the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, known as the FIA, and the Hungarian government.

The two leaders also discussed the success of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The famous race marked 40 years since the Hungaroring first hosted a Formula One World Championship event.

The Hungarian Grand Prix welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans each year. It also supports tourism, creates business opportunities and brings global attention to Hungary.

Ben Sulayem and Magyar spoke about how major sports events can encourage new ideas, attract investment and show a country’s achievements to the world.

Support for Motorsport in Hungary

Ben Sulayem praised Hungary’s work in motorsport and transport.

He highlighted the role of the FIA’s Hungarian member clubs, including the Magyar Nemzeti Autósport Szövetség and the Magyar Mobilitási és Autóklub.

The FIA said it wants to make motorsport easier for more people to join. It also plans to continue supporting major racing events in Hungary and nearby countries.

Road Safety Also Discussed

The meeting also covered road safety and the FIA’s work to improve transport.

The organisation uses research and data to help governments make roads safer. It also works to make travel more affordable and easier to access.

Ben Sulayem expressed support for Hungary’s Vision Zero plan. The plan aims to end road deaths and serious injuries by 2050.

Meeting With Czech President Petr Pavel

During the race, Ben Sulayem also met Czech President Petr Pavel.

Pavel attended the Hungarian Grand Prix because of his interest in motorsport and photography.

The two leaders discussed their shared love of racing. They had also met earlier in Prague and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“The Hungarian Grand Prix is an iconic race in the championship’s annual calendar,” Ben Sulayem said.

He added that the FIA looked forward to working with Prime Minister Péter Magyar and the Hungarian government to increase participation in motorsport.

“Motorsport brings together innovation, competition and national pride,” he said.

Ben Sulayem also said the FIA would work with the Magyar Nemzeti Autósport Szövetség and its president, Zoltán Szujó, to make motorsport more accessible and continue hosting world-class events.
