Etihad Rail Passenger Service Boosts Fujairah Tourism and UAE Travel

FUJAIRAH: The new Etihad Rail passenger service is set to make travel across the UAE faster, easier, and more comfortable. The project is expected to boost tourism, improve connections between emirates, and support the country’s economy with a safe and modern railway network.
The first introductory passenger train from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi marks a major step in the UAE’s transport system. The railway will help residents and tourists travel smoothly between cities while making it easier to visit the country’s beaches, mountains, heritage sites, and cultural attractions.
Fujairah, known for its beautiful landscapes, historic landmarks, and rich culture, is expected to benefit greatly from the new rail service. Officials believe the railway will attract more visitors, give travelers more transport choices, and support hotels, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses.
Saeed Abdullah Al Samahi, Director of the Fujairah Department of Tourism and Antiquities, said the opening of the Etihad Rail station is an important milestone for the emirate. He explained that the railway will improve Fujairah’s position as a top tourist destination while creating new opportunities for business and economic growth.
He said the new train service offers visitors a safe, comfortable, and convenient way to reach Fujairah. This is expected to increase hotel bookings and support the hospitality, leisure, and tourism sectors across the emirate.
Al Samahi added that Fujairah offers visitors a unique mix of nature, history, and culture. Better transport links through the national railway network will make it even easier for families and tourists to enjoy short holidays and weekend trips in the emirate.
He also noted that the project supports the UAE’s long-term vision of building a strong and connected transport network that encourages sustainable development and local economic growth.
The opening of Fujairah Railway Station attracted many citizens and residents, who gathered to celebrate the occasion and capture photos and videos. Many described the launch as a proud achievement that will improve travel between the emirates while bringing more visitors to Fujairah.
The journey between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah takes only 105 minutes, with trains reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h. Each train can carry up to 400 passengers, and the full railway network is expected to serve around 10 million passengers every year.
Etihad Rail offers two travel options: Comfort Class and First Class. Passengers can enjoy reserved seats, free Wi-Fi, charging ports, luggage storage, and flexible ticket choices. The trains also include facilities designed to support People of Determination.
The launch of the passenger rail service highlights the UAE’s commitment to modern transportation, sustainable mobility, economic growth, and stronger tourism across all emirates.
