Etihad Rail Helps Move 350 Passengers Between Al Ghuwaifat and Al Faya During Travel Disruption

ABU DHABI: Etihad Rail moved more than 350 passengers between Al Ghuwaifat Station in Al Dhafra and Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi after regional developments disrupted travel. The train service helped people travel safely during the disruption. The service also took place before the official launch of passenger trains in the UAE.

Etihad Rail worked closely with the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC). The two sides organized the special service quickly to support travelers. Some flights stopped temporarily because of the regional situation. The train service helped move passengers who could not travel by air.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia also worked with UAE officials to support the process. Their cooperation helped speed up the transport operation. Officials activated safety plans and emergency procedures before the trains started moving passengers. Teams also prepared staff and technical systems for the operation.

Freight trains continued to run normally across the UAE railway network. The special passenger service did not affect cargo transport.

Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi, said the operation shows the UAE can respond quickly to regional changes. He said the national railway network plays an important role in the country’s transport system. It can also support people during unexpected situations.

He added that running passenger trains before the official launch shows strong cooperation between government entities. The step also shows flexibility when helping the public.

Eng. Mohammed Al Shehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, said the company feels proud to support national efforts during the current situation. He said the railway network is ready to operate passenger services when needed. He also praised the national workforce for running the operation smoothly.

Etihad Rail has also planned more train services if needed. The company will continue the service until flights return to normal schedules. The operation shows the UAE can manage regional challenges while keeping important services running. It also strengthens confidence in the country’s transport infrastructure.
