Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan Celebrates 10th Anniversary of UNESCO Center for Quality and Excellence
Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan led the 10th-anniversary celebration of the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education. The event took place at the Marine Club in Jubail Industrial City and unveiled the center’s new identity. Key figures from the education sector, both locally and globally, attended the event.
In his speech, Al-Benyan highlighted the importance of focusing on quality and excellence in education. He explained that the center was created in Saudi Arabia ten years ago under UNESCO’s guidance, with full support from the Kingdom’s leadership. This initiative represents the first global effort of its kind, aimed at improving the quality of education.
Al-Benyan emphasized that investing in education is crucial to facing modern challenges. He stressed the need to develop educational systems that align with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to create innovative generations. He also noted the importance of international cooperation and sharing knowledge.
The minister recognized several cities for joining the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. These cities include Jubail, Yanbu, Madinah, Al-Ahsa, and King Abdullah Economic City.
At the end of the event, the Arab Network for Learning Cities platform was launched. This platform will promote community-driven education and share best practices. Additionally, a strategic agreement with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning was announced. This partnership includes a joint work plan for 2024 to 2028, which will enhance cooperation in education.
