Dubai: Ducab Group has concluded a remarkable year of growth and sustainability achievements, solidifying its position as a global leader in energy solutions and eco-friendly manufacturing. Marking its 45th year, Ducab expanded into over 20 new markets, boosted production capacity, and introduced innovative green products to support global decarbonization goals.
Expanding Global Reach
In 2024, Ducab extended its energy solutions to over 75 countries. A key highlight was its partnership with Emirates NBD India under the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This collaboration enhanced economic ties and strengthened Ducab’s role in India’s infrastructure and energy development. The opening of Ducab’s Bengaluru office in early 2023 bolstered its presence in India and Southeast Asia.
Africa also emerged as a critical growth region. Ducab supplied Senegal with its first-ever 220kV copper high-voltage cables, supporting the country’s electrification initiative and its goal of achieving universal electricity access by 2026.
Driving UAE’s Sustainability Goals
Ducab has played a significant role in advancing the UAE’s net-zero strategies, contributing to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050. CEO Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa stated:
“2024 has been a year of growth and innovation for Ducab. Our expansion into new markets, increased production capacity, and eco-friendly products demonstrate our commitment to supporting the UAE’s clean energy and sustainability goals.”
Ducab Metals Business: A Year of Innovation
Ducab Metals Business (DMB), a subsidiary of Ducab, saw exponential growth in 2024. The company doubled its annual aluminium production capacity to 110,000 tonnes and expanded its bare copper output to meet global demand for UAE-manufactured metals.
Key milestones for DMB included the acquisition of GIC Magnet, adding paper-insulated aluminium strips to its portfolio. These products are critical for electric vehicles, transformers, and electromagnets, positioning DMB as the only regional supplier approved for the US market.
DMB also launched its eco-friendly Green Aluminium Rod, made from recycled materials. This product reduces energy consumption by 95% and cuts carbon emissions to just 0.5 tons per ton of production, aligning with the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Commitment to ESG and Community Development
In 2024, Ducab enhanced its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy through a partnership with Schneider Electric. The company also launched the ‘Ducab Ducare’ program, focusing on community development and sustainability.
In the UAE, Ducab planted 1,000 trees across its facilities, absorbing 22 tons of carbon annually, as part of the “Plant the Emirates” initiative. The company also collaborated with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment to construct 25 homes for people of determination and elderly citizens.
Internationally, Ducab partnered with Dubai Cares to build a school in Nepal under the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative. Set for completion in 2025, the school will provide education to 200 children and adult literacy programs for underserved communities.
Looking Ahead
As Ducab continues its journey, its focus remains on innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and supporting global decarbonization efforts. With its growing global footprint and commitment to community and environmental well-being, Ducab is poised to shape the future of energy solutions.
