Dubai's Young Muezzins Receive Royal Eidiya from Crown Prince

Dubai’s young muezzins beamed with delight as they received a special treat ahead of Eid Al Fitr. None other than Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, presented each of them with an Eidiya, praising them as “beautiful echoes of our society.”

These young men participated in the unique ‘Muezzin Al Farij’ initiative, a program that trained 311 boys from 51 neighborhoods in the proper recitation of the call to prayer. Their dedication has captured the hearts of Dubai residents. Worshippers have expressed joy at hearing the clear voices of these young muezzins, some as young as six, announce the call to prayer. Proud mothers whose sons are now leading the call to prayer in their communities have also shared in the happiness.

A video released by the Dubai Media Office showed the young muezzins gathered at a mosque, each receiving their Eidiya – traditionally given as money – from Sheikh Hamdan himself. The boys, filled with gratitude, expressed their thanks one by one to the Crown Prince for his generous gift.
