Dubai, January 1, 2025 – Public transport in Dubai witnessed a remarkable surge in usage during the New Year’s Eve 2025 celebrations, with over 2.5 million passengers relying on various transportation modes. This marks a 9.3% increase compared to the same time last year when 2,288,631 riders used public transit.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported seamless and efficient passenger movement, attributing the success to a well-coordinated plan developed in collaboration with key Dubai entities. Key highlights include:
Dubai Metro
- Red and Green Lines served 1,133,251 riders, demonstrating the Metro’s role as the backbone of urban mobility.
Dubai Tram
- The Dubai Tram transported 55,391 passengers, offering convenient access to key areas.
Public Buses
- Public buses accommodated 465,779 passengers, ensuring connectivity across the city.
Marine Transport
- Marine services ferried 80,066 commuters, providing scenic and efficient travel options.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing Services
- Taxis catered to 571,098 passengers, while e-hailing vehicles served 195,651 users, making these popular choices for door-to-door travel.
Shared Mobility
- Shared transport vehicles handled 1,238 riders, showcasing the growing demand for flexible travel solutions.
