Dubai Awards Sustainable Tourism Stamp to Record 237 Hotels

Dubai: Dubai has awarded its Sustainable Tourism Stamp to a record 237 hotels in the programme’s third cycle. The number is 55 percent higher than the 153 hotels recognised in the previous cycle and more than three times the 70 hotels honoured when the programme began in 2023. This year, 22 hotels received Gold, 92 received Silver and 123 received Bronze awards.
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism said hotels were judged on 19 sustainability requirements, including saving energy and water, reducing waste, responsible buying, staff involvement, guest awareness, community support and climate action. Independent experts assessed the hotels, while a senior committee reviewed the final results. Each award level remains valid for one year.
Yousuf Lootah of DET said the increase shows that sustainability is becoming part of daily hotel operations in Dubai. The programme supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goal and helps travellers choose responsibly managed hotels. DET also supports hotels with tools such as a Carbon Calculator and sustainability training on the Dubai Way platform, with further improvements planned for future cycles.
