Dubai Approves Huge 18 Billion Dirham Plan with New 15km Road

Dubai has approved a huge development plan worth 18 billion dirhams. This big package includes a new 15-kilometre elevated road to make traffic much easier in the city.
The news was announced on Wednesday by the Dubai Media Office. The projects cover roads, culture, trade, education, and more. Dubai’s Executive Council approved them during a meeting led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
New Elevated Road to Ease Traffic
One of the main projects is a new road corridor running next to Sheikh Zayed Road. It will have three lanes going each way and stretch 15 kilometres.
This new road is part of the First Al Khail Street Development Plan. It will cut travel time on Sheikh Zayed Road by 51 percent during busy hours. The road will help more than 2.6 million people and connect areas like Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Business Bay, and Meydan.
Work on the road will begin in the third quarter of 2027 and finish by the end of 2030. Builders will use smart new ways to finish it fast without stopping normal traffic.
Other Important Projects
The 18 billion dirham package also includes many other plans:
- A new cultural strategy to help more than 6,000 local artists and creative people. It aims to make culture add 5.4 percent to Dubai’s economy. The plan will bring in over 6,000 artists from around the world and grow cultural places by more than 200 percent. It will have 40 new ideas focused on new inventions, design, and training talents. Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will lead this strategy.
- A customs strategy to make trade easier, keep people safe, and help Dubai stay a top global trading city.
- A plan to help more Emirati people work in private schools. The goal is to have 3,000 Emiratis working there by 2033, especially as teachers.
- A single Dubai Investor Register. This will make it simple for companies and investors to work in different parts of Dubai without doing extra paperwork. It supports the goal of bringing 650 billion dirhams in foreign investment by 2033.
- A new look for Dubai’s address system. Street signs will have a special design inspired by Dubai’s environment. This will help people find places more easily. The system will cover 186 areas by 2029.
- A real-time system to track Dubai’s population and growth.
- A new centre for technology and innovation in Islamic finance.
Sheikh Hamdan’s Words
Sheikh Hamdan said Dubai is turning big dreams into real actions. The city plans for the future while taking care of today, following the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He added that Dubai will become a world leader in culture, rooted in UAE heritage, full of new ideas and talented people. “Our development journey continues, our momentum never slows,” he said.
These projects show how Dubai is working hard to build a better city for its people and for future generations. The plans cover roads, culture, jobs, investment, and smart planning to keep Dubai growing strong.
