Dr. Sultan Al Jaber Joins ADNOC Team for Iftar on Zirku Island During Ramadan

ABU DHABI: Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Group CEO of ADNOC, joined ADNOC Offshore employees for a special Iftar on Zirku Island, 140 km northwest of Abu Dhabi, to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The visit celebrated the hard work and dedication of the offshore team, especially during the UAE Year of Community, and highlighted their role in supporting ADNOC’s long-term goals.
Honoring the Team’s Efforts
Dr. Al Jaber shared appreciation from the UAE leadership for the important role Zirku Island has played since 1983. The island is a key hub for processing and exporting oil, helping drive economic growth and energy security for the country.
He gave special praise to the skilled Emirati team managing the control rooms at Zirku and Das Islands. Their success in the recent “Kafaa Business Continuity Exercise” shows their strong leadership and ability to keep operations running smoothly.
“In this blessed month of Ramadan, we reflect on unity, commitment, and service,” said Dr. Al Jaber. “I am proud of the Emirati talent leading offshore operations. Their work shows ADNOC’s dedication to developing our people, supporting future leaders, and creating long-term value for the UAE.”
Zirku Island: A Strategic Energy Hub
For over 40 years, Zirku Island has been a vital part of ADNOC’s operations, serving global customers while focusing on safety, sustainability, and excellence. The island is home to more than 5,000 workers and is known for using advanced technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to boost performance.
ADNOC aims to be the world’s most AI-enabled energy company, and Zirku is playing a key role in achieving that goal.

During the visit, Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the offshore team’s strong safety record and their part in driving ADNOC’s major decarbonization efforts. With over 25,000 employees and contractors working across ADNOC Offshore daily, the company is committed to high safety standards and the UAE’s “Make it in the Emirates” initiative.
