Deputy Governor of Makkah Washes of Holy Kaaba on Behalf of King Salman
The washing ceremony of the Holy Kaaba was carried out on Sunday by Deputy Governor of Makkah Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz on behalf of King Salman. This sacred Islamic tradition is a prophetic Sunnah and a reflection of Saudi leadership on the global stage.
The ceremony began with the deputy governor washing the Holy Kaaba’s interior with Zamzam water mixed with rose water. He then performed two rak’ahs of Tawaf. Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, president of religious affairs at the Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque, emphasized the significance of washing the Holy Kaaba.
Dr. Fawaz Al-Dahas, history professor at Umm Al-Qura University, highlighted the exceptional honor bestowed upon the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this ceremony annually. He explained the detailed process of cleaning the Holy Kaaba using Zamzam water and rose water.
Dr. Ayed Al-Zahrani, professor of Islamic history, noted the symbolic significance of the ceremony, representing moral and spiritual cleansing in preparation for the Umrah season.
The washing of the Holy Kaaba is a cherished occasion for Muslims and the people of Saudi Arabia, showcasing the Kingdom’s dedication and reverence for the holiest site on Earth.
