Crown Prince of Fujairah Opens World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025

The 7th World Taekwondo Cadet Championships kicked off on May 10 at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah. The event will run for five days and brings together young taekwondo athletes from around the world.
Sheikh Mohammed attended the opening ceremony and said that hosting such global events shows Fujairah’s strong reputation and ability to organize major sports competitions. He also praised the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, in developing the sports sector.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, head of the organizing committee and UAE Taekwondo Federation president, said this year’s championship includes 811 athletes from 93 countries. He thanked the World Taekwondo Federation, the Ministry of Sports, and local partners for their support.
World Taekwondo President Dr. Choue Chung-won called it the largest cadet championship ever and thanked Fujairah’s leaders for supporting youth and refugee athletes. He said many past cadet competitors have become Olympic and world champions.
The opening ceremony featured flag parades, athlete oaths, Emirati cultural performances, and a show by the World Taekwondo demonstration team. Sponsors and partners, including e&, Fujairah Investment Company, and Fujairah Police, were also recognized.
