Beijing: China’s big factories and industrial companies made more profit in 2025, ending several years of decline, according to official data released on Tuesday.

The National Bureau of Statistics of China said profits at major industrial companies grew by 0.6 percent in 2025 compared to the year before. This comes after profits had fallen from 2022 to 2024.

Manufacturing companies showed strong improvement. Their profits rose by 5 percent in 2025. This was a big recovery compared to last year, when profits were much lower.

Newer industries played an important role in this growth. Equipment manufacturing and high-tech industries helped push profits higher as demand improved.

Data from the National Bureau of Statistics, reported by the Global Times, showed a sharp turnround at the end of the year. In December, industrial profits grew by 5.3 percent. In November, profits had dropped by 13.1 percent, showing a strong rebound in just one month.

Small and medium-sized companies also saw better results in 2025. Their profits grew by 1.4 percent, compared to a drop in 2024. Companies with foreign investment did even better, with profits rising by 4.2 percent after falling the year before.

The latest figures suggest China’s industrial sector is slowly recovering, with new technology and manufacturing helping drive growth again.
