Barcelona win Spanish Super Cup for the 16th time after beating Real Madrid in Jeddah

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: FC Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup for the 16th time after a close 3-2 win against Real Madrid. The final match was played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah and was watched by more than 60,000 fans.

The trophy was handed to Barcelona by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

Barcelona scored the first goal in the 36th minute. The goal came from Raphinha after strong pressure from the team. Just before the break, Real Madrid scored through Vinícius Júnior in added time of the first half.

Barcelona answered very fast. Robert Lewandowski scored another goal only two minutes later. Real Madrid did not give up and scored again through Gonzalo García, making the score 2-2 before halftime.

In the second half, Barcelona played with more control and kept pushing forward. In the 73rd minute, Raphinha scored his second goal of the match. This goal decided the game and gave Barcelona the title.

The match also had a tense moment at the end. In added time, Frenkie de Jong received a red card after a foul on Kylian Mbappé.

With this win, FC Barcelona remain the most successful club in Spanish Super Cup history. They have now won the title 16 times in 29 finals. Real Madrid are second with 12 titles. Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo de La Coruna have won the cup three times each, while Atlético de Madrid have lifted it twice.

The Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah once again showed why the Barcelona vs Real Madrid rivalry is one of the biggest in world football.
