Dubai, February 13, 2025: Bain & Company, in partnership with the World Governments Summit (WGS), has introduced the Sustainability Readiness Tool, an AI-driven solution designed to help businesses assess and improve their sustainability strategies.

Bridging the Sustainability Gap in MENA

According to Bain & Company’s research, about 70% of businesses in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region claim to integrate sustainability into their operations. However, only 3% are on track to meet their sustainability goals. This highlights the need for better insights and structured strategies—something the new tool aims to provide.

How the Sustainability Readiness Tool Works

The AI-powered tool offers a structured framework for organizations to evaluate their sustainability progress and align with global best practices. It is built on Bain’s LEAD Framework, which identifies four key factors that set sustainability leaders apart:

  1. Align Sustainability with Business Goals – Companies must integrate sustainability into their core corporate strategies.
  2. Engage Teams Across Departments – A successful sustainability plan requires collaboration across the entire organization.
  3. Set Achievable Sustainability Goals – Plans should be developed with both top-down leadership and bottom-up insights.
  4. Drive Innovation and Scale Solutions – Agile systems should be in place to test, refine, and expand sustainability initiatives.

A Data-Driven Approach to Sustainability

“The Sustainability Readiness Tool offers a clear roadmap for businesses looking to enhance their sustainability efforts,” said Samer Bohsali, Senior Partner and EMEA Leader of the Public Sector practice at Bain & Company. “As global sustainability challenges grow, companies must take decisive steps to integrate sustainability into their business models.”

The tool includes 27 AI-powered assessment questions that help businesses measure their sustainability readiness. Companies receive benchmarking insights, allowing them to compare their progress with industry leaders.

Benchmarking Against Top Companies

One of the key features of the tool is its ability to compare organizations with sustainability leaders, such as Emirates NBD, Acwa Power, Taqa, EGA, and others. By analyzing how these companies integrate sustainability into their operations and supply chains, businesses can:

Identify gaps in their sustainability strategies
Adopt best practices from top-performing companies
Align with global sustainability benchmarks
Attract investors by improving ESG ratings

Sustainability as a Growth Strategy

“Sustainability should not just be a compliance obligation—it should be a driver of business growth,” said Wissam Yassine, Partner and Leader in the Sustainability practice at Bain & Company Middle East. “This tool helps organizations transform sustainability from an abstract goal into a practical, measurable strategy.”

Now Available for Businesses

With governments and industries worldwide prioritizing sustainability, the Sustainability Readiness Tool provides a practical solution for businesses looking to turn their sustainability plans into action.
