Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Parliamentary Ties
Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council, at the Al-Safriya Palace in Manama on Thursday. The meeting highlighted the commitment of both nations to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation.
King Hamad praised the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. He emphasized the close cooperation and coordination already achieved across various sectors, serving the best interests of both countries. The King also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of King Salman of Saudi Arabia in solidifying these historical bonds.
Parliamentary Cooperation Takes Center Stage
The meeting recognized the vital role played by the Shoura Councils and Councils of Representatives in both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. These legislative bodies were acknowledged for their contributions to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting development within both nations.
King Hamad welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bahraini Council of Representatives and the Saudi Shoura Council. This MoU signifies a commitment to expand cooperation frameworks, exchange expertise, and collaborate on legislative and parliamentary matters. It also aims to foster coordinated positions at regional and international parliamentary forums.
The King’s reception and the signing of the MoU underscore the commitment of both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to enhance parliamentary collaboration for the benefit of both nations.
