Red Sea Global has launched Team AMAALA, a professional sailing team that will compete in the Ocean Race Europe 2025. This prestigious sailing event will take place over several stages, from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea.

The team is part of Red Sea Global’s ongoing efforts to protect the oceans and promote their sustainability. Led by experienced Swiss sailor Alan Roura, Team AMAALA will showcase their sailing skills while focusing on ocean conservation. Roura is known for his success in high-performance ocean racing and in the IMOCA class, which includes yachts that are 60 feet long.

John Pagano, CEO of Red Sea Global, explained, “We are building sustainable destinations inspired by science and nature. Our goal is to improve the well-being of people and nature. We believe tourism can play a big role in making positive changes and helping destinations thrive.” He continued, “Through The Ocean Race Europe and Team AMAALA, we can raise awareness about protecting our oceans. This is the right time for global action to ensure a better future.”

Pagano also mentioned the importance of this project in raising AMAALA’s global presence. “AMAALA’s participation in the race will help connect us with the global sailing community and make yachting an important part of our destination.”

After the Europe race in 2025, there will be a transatlantic race in 2026, from New York to Barcelona. The round-the-world race in 2027 will conclude at AMAALA’s destination on the Red Sea coast, marking the grand finale of the event.

AMAALA is committed to ocean science. The team will support the Ocean Race Europe’s science program, which collects vital ocean data such as water temperature, salinity, oxygen levels, and microplastic concentrations. This information will be shared with researchers to improve understanding of ocean changes. In the 2023 race, over four million data points were provided to scientific organizations.

AMAALA’s marine life center, Corallium, will benefit from this data. The center is dedicated to ocean conservation, education, and awareness, and it is set to open later this year.

Red Sea Global’s partnership with The Ocean Race began in 2023, reflecting a shared commitment to ocean health and environmental education. In 2024, AMAALA was selected as the official destination for the final stage of the 15th edition of the race, which will take place in 2027 along the Red Sea coast.

This initiative shows that Team AMAALA is not just about sailing. It’s about supporting ocean science and working toward a sustainable future for the planet.
