ALECSO Holds Meetings in Jeddah
Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) officials from 22 Arab nations convened in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this week for a series of meetings focused on fostering educational, cultural, and scientific advancement in the Arab world.
ALECSO Executive Council Meetings
The 121st session of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization Executive Council kicked off on Tuesday and will conclude today, followed by the organization’s General Conference on Friday. Discussions during the ALECSO meetings center on critical topics, initiatives, and proposals related to knowledge-sharing, scientific progress, and innovation within the organization’s framework.
A key focus of the ALECSO meetings is on identifying the challenges Arab nations face in education, culture, and science. ALECSO officials are exploring innovative solutions, including knowledge-sharing and fostering a culture of innovation, to overcome these hurdles. Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization also aims to establish new partnerships that can broaden educational opportunities and advance critical thinking throughout the Arab world.
Promoting Arab Culture on the World Stage
ALECSO Director-General Mohammed Walad Amar emphasized the organization’s commitment to promoting Arab cultural heritage on a global scale. ALECSO collaborates with member countries to secure recognition for their cultural treasures on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. ALECSO’s active engagement includes participation in the UNESCO Culture and Education Ministers’ Conference held in the UAE earlier this year.
The ALECSO meetings also addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Hani Al-Moqbel, chairperson of ALECSO’s Executive Council, expressed deep concern and condemned the violence. He emphasized that such pronouncements are not merely symbolic but represent a commitment to Arab unity and shared values. This focus on unity, Al-Moqbel concluded, will empower Arab nations to address challenges and achieve progress.
