NAJRAN: Tucked away in the heart of Najran, the historic village of Al-Qabil stands as a living chronicle of the region’s enduring heritage and culture. Characterized by its towering date palms, traditional mud-brick houses, and centuries-old wells, the village captures the essence of southern Saudi Arabia’s deep-rooted traditions.
Al-Qabil stretches from the fertile Al-Hussein farms in the east to the village of Al-Jarbah in the west. To the south lies the renowned Historical City of Al-Okhdood, while the verdant Wadi Najran borders it to the north positioning the village at a crossroads of both natural beauty and archaeological importance.
Speaking to the press, Mohammed Al Hetailah, head of the Najran Society for History and Archaeology, emphasized that Al-Qabil’s architectural legacy spans several centuries. “The village houses more than 200 mud structures, including palaces and homes of varying designs and heights, many of which are over 350 years old,” he said. These buildings serve as a reflection of Najran’s evolving architectural styles and its historically rich way of life.
With its blend of scenic charm and cultural depth, Al-Qabil continues to be a source of pride for the people of Najran and a beacon for heritage conservation in the Kingdom.
