Al-Baha Tackles Illiteracy: Campaign Empowers Over 1,400 Adults
A comprehensive literacy campaign, “Al-Baha Without Illiteracy,” is making significant strides in empowering adult learners in the Al-Baha region of Saudi Arabia. The initiative, currently serving over 1,400 students, offers essential skills development and educational opportunities.
Community-Based Learning for All
The campaign, a collaborative effort between the General Administration of Education and various government agencies, operates through 32 educational centers across Al-Baha. These centers cater to both men and women, with dedicated facilities enrolling 390 male students and 1,057 female students. Qualified instructors and administrative staff, supported by additional volunteers, ensure a quality learning environment for all participants.
Promoting Literacy and National Identity
Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al-Zahrani, Director General of Education in Al-Baha, emphasizes the campaign’s alignment with national priorities. He highlights literacy as “a civilized approach championed by our leadership,” contributing to lifelong learning and fostering a well-educated generation dedicated to serving the country. The program goes beyond basic literacy skills, incorporating religious education, cultural awareness, social responsibility, and health education. It also places importance on strengthening national identity and civic engagement.
Holistic Education for a Brighter Future
The summer phase of the campaign has witnessed enthusiastic participation from adult learners seeking to acquire reading and writing skills. The curriculum extends beyond foundational literacy, equipping participants with digital literacy skills, health awareness, environmental education, and the ability to utilize electronic systems and applications.
A Collaborative Approach for Lasting Impact
The Saudi Press Agency reports that “Al-Baha Without Illiteracy” leverages resources from government agencies and non-profit organizations. This collaborative approach fosters a holistic educational experience, aiming to develop essential life skills and achieve educational and cultural goals. The program’s long-term vision includes reducing illiteracy rates, fostering patriotism, and promoting awareness on various critical issues.
By providing accessible and empowering educational opportunities, the “Al-Baha Without Illiteracy” campaign is making a positive impact on the lives of adult learners in the region.
