Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center Leads UAE’s First Testicular Tissue Cryopreservation for Young Boys

Abu Dhabi, December 31, 2024: The Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC) has achieved a significant milestone. It performed testicular tissue cryopreservation (TTC) for four young boys, aged 2, 4, 7, and 10, before their bone marrow transplants. This first-of-its-kind procedure in the UAE reflects ADSCC’s dedication to advanced pediatric care and fertility preservation.

The boys underwent this procedure to address potential fertility loss due to high-dose chemotherapy and total body irradiation, necessary for bone marrow transplantation. Their families were informed about the risks and benefits. This innovation highlights ADSCC’s efforts to support patients beyond immediate treatment needs.
