3rd Young Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme Kicks Off Under the Patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed
Abu Dhabi: The third edition of the Young Arab Diplomatic Leaders Programme has officially started today under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This prestigious initiative, launched by the Arab Youth Centre in Abu Dhabi, aims to empower young Arab diplomats with modern tools and leadership skills to handle global and regional challenges.
Investing in Youth Leadership
Speaking about the programme, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan highlighted the importance of preparing young Arab leaders, especially during times of rapid change across the Arab world. “It is essential to equip young leaders with the right skills to manage humanitarian crises with both leadership and diplomacy,” he said. The UAE, known for its commitment to youth development, continues to invest in programs that build these vital capabilities.

Key Partners in Diplomacy Training
This year’s programme is being held in partnership with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and in collaboration with top international institutions such as Harvard University, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. Participants come from nine Arab nations, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia.
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Arab Youth Centre, emphasized the importance of empowering young people in the field of humanitarian diplomacy. He stated, “Youth are the future ambassadors who will lead peace efforts and promote stability across the region.”
Developing Future Humanitarian Diplomats
Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, UAE’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs, echoed these sentiments. He explained that humanitarian diplomacy, which focuses on peaceful solutions to crises, is a vital tool in international relations. By investing in the youth, the programme ensures a future generation of leaders who will drive positive change in the Arab world.
Dr. Mohamed Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, added that the academy combines practical experience with theoretical knowledge to shape creative diplomats. These diplomats will navigate the complexities of international relations, advancing the UAE’s standing on the global stage.
Comprehensive Training for Young Diplomats
This year’s programme features a series of workshops, training sessions, and discussions with prominent experts. Topics will include humanitarian diplomacy, negotiation techniques, international law, decision-making, and financial diplomacy. Young diplomats will also learn about protecting vulnerable groups and managing responsible spending in humanitarian missions.
