Beit Al Douri Commercial Company, the entity responsible for managing media operations for Saudi Sports, has officially kicked off the tender process for producing Saudi Football matches. This marks a significant shift, as the contract, spanning the next four seasons beginning in 2024-2025, has attracted over 15 global contenders.

Fueling this intense competition are the established reputations of these companies, renowned for their expertise in broadcasting major football leagues like the English and Spanish powerhouses. Previously dominated by local and regional companies, the Saudi League’s growing international appeal has broadened the playing field, attracting a wider range of broadcast production giants.

Global Interest in Saudi Football

The lucrative nature of the contract is no secret. Experts estimate its annual value to exceed 120 million Saudi riyals ($32 million), totaling a staggering 480 million riyals ($128 million) over the four-year period. This substantial sum reflects the extensive broadcast package, encompassing a total of 358 matches per season. These matches include fixtures from the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, Saudi Super Cup, Saudi national team matches, and various other sporting events.

To ensure high-quality production, matches are categorized into four tiers (A++ to B) based on specific production standards. These tiers dictate the number of cameras deployed for coverage. Top-tier matches, such as the King’s Cup final, Saudi Super Cup final, league champion’s coronation match, and key fixtures for the Saudi national team, will receive the most comprehensive coverage. Furthermore, approved stadiums feature a range of seating capacities, offering diverse coverage options.

With significant economic stakes and a global audience captivated by Saudi football, the outcome of this bidding process holds immense weight. It will not only shape the future of Saudi football broadcasting but also potentially impact the international sports media landscape.
