Dubai: The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the largest global event for content creators, has announced the “One Billion Award,” a prestigious $1 million prize aimed at recognizing outstanding and impactful content creators worldwide.

About the One Billion Award

This award, the first of its kind, celebrates creators who use digital media to drive meaningful change. The award encourages content that promotes positive values, inspires audiences, and contributes to a better society. Content creators can apply directly via the 1 Billion Followers Summit website (www.1billionsummit.com) by November 30, 2024, with the winner set to be announced at the 2025 Summit on January 13, 2025.

Vision and Goals

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, emphasized that the One Billion Award reflects His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision of making the UAE a global hub for innovative content creation. The award encourages emerging voices to create content that supports social good, promotes unity, and fosters a culture of empathy and compassion.

Al Gergawi added, “This award will advance the Summit’s goals of knowledge-sharing and building a global network of creators committed to uplifting humanity and creating opportunities for prosperity through digital media.”

Application Process and Eligibility

To apply, participants must share details about their content, including its purpose, history, and impact. The award is also open for third-party nominations to recognize creators who consistently create valuable and socially beneficial content.

Eligible entries should inspire audiences across social, cultural, scientific, and humanitarian themes. The content must also align with social media standards, foster positive engagement, and exhibit high-quality design.

Selection and Voting Process

The selection begins on December 1, 2024, with a panel reviewing submissions until December 15. Ten finalists will then be selected, and online voting will open to the public from December 16 to December 31. Judges will consider public votes and announce the winner on January 13, 2025, during the summit’s closing ceremony.

The 2024 1 Billion Followers Summit broke records, attracting over 7,000 attendees and 3,000 content creators from 95 countries. The summit also generated over 300 million interactions on social media and secured partnerships with over 200 media companies.
